Scotland. The only country in the world incapable of controlling our own finances, according to London. The country that gave the world Adam Smith, the Father of Economics, yet can’t run its own economy. The country that gave the world sociology, ecology, field intelligence, aircraft design, universal standard time, first textbook on surgery, logarithms, hypnotism, electromagnetism, the discovery of the composition of Saturn’s rings, popularised the decimal point, discovered the properties of carbon dioxide, the first cloned mammal, but we are incapable of running our own country.

The country that gave the world the television, the telephone, the fridge, the toaster, the flushing toilet, the vacuum flask, penicillin, insulin, the bicycle, wave powered electricity generator, world’s first passenger steamboat, the postage stamp, the underlying principles of radio, radar, the kaleidoscope, the first automated can-filling machine, the modern lawnmower, the electric clock, yet we are not able to be self sufficient.

The country that gave the world the hypodermic syringe, the saline drip, discovered the vaccine for Typhoid fever, general anaesthetic, pioneered X ray cinematography, radiation therapy, oxygen therapy, effective treatment for TB, the beta blocker, the first artificial kidney, propofol, Glasgow anxiety scale, Glasgow depression scale, the ECG, but we are not intelligent enough to be in charge of our own country’s destiny.

The home of Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan, Long John Silver and James Bond, but we are not creative enough to manage our own affairs. The country that gave the world cycling, curling, golf and ice hockey, but we are not fit to govern ourselves. The country that gave the world colour photography, the Bank of France, the Bank of England, the Buick Motor Company, the New York Herald and Forbes Magazine, but we are not genetically programmed to make political decisions.

We invented the act of declaring independence for goodness sake. If ever there was a country that was born to be independent, it was Scotland. Scotland, the only country in the world that the English Empire will beg, steal and borrow to keep at all costs.” Unfortunately I do not recall the source of this quote, which I saved on Jan 9th, 2020. I do not understand the antipathy of many on here to Scottish Independence, or even to a referendum on Independence.

MY COMMENTS

How has a country with a record like the above accepted second class colonial status in our own land? Denied the basic Human Right of self determination trapped in a political system where our representatives are outvoted ten to one. Trapped in an economic system designed to rob us of our assets that directs them South and which goes out its way to deny us proper ports or fully developed air routes communication with other countries. That has now reached the ludicrous position that we are denied the freedom to even discuss any matter with foreign politicians without a senior UK Representative (English) being present. I cannot think that any self respecting people in the World would accept such a restriction…but our “political representatives have. That tells me all I need to know about sacking those representatives because they have shown themselves unworthy of this nation’s support.

BEAT THE CENSORS

Regretfully there are some among us who seek to censor what others read. Sadly within the YES movement there are sites which claim to be pro Indy but exist to only promote one Party and will not publish articles which come from bloggers who don’t slavishly support that Party to the exclusion of the rest of the YES movement. I ask readers who support free speech to share articles from Yours for Scotland as often as possible as this defeats the effectiveness of the censors.

SALVO

The work and important development of Salvo has been a beacon of hope in 2022 and as it develops Salvo is creating campaigning hubs throughout Scotland. Salvo will join  with Liberation.Scot and as the campaigning arm of Liberation we are looking at very effective campaigns kicking off very early this year and introducing some new campaigning methods as well as those that have worked well in the past. This requires money so all donations to this site, once the running costs are covered, will go to support the work of Salvo/ Liberation. I think you will see it well used and effective.

We are seeking to build Liberation.Scot to at least 100,000 signatures just as quickly as we can. This is part of our plan to win recognition as an official Liberation Movement via the United Nations. We intend to internationalise our battle to win Independence and through the setting up of our Scottish National Congress will prepare and develop our arguments to win progress in the International Courts.
