Born and brought up in the Lothians. Kenny was a lawyer in Edinburgh for many years before being elected to the Scottish Parliament. Representing Musselburgh for many years he also served as Justice Secretary. Stepping down in 2016 he has been writing for newspapers and magazines as well as authoring several book including a biography of Jimmy Reid. Currently Member of Parliament (MP) for East Lothian since 2019.
