It goes without saying, I hope, that Salvo is committed to obtaining international recognition of Scotland’s rights. Scotland has rights? Really? What a radical idea. But unlike rainbow unicorns, the rights of nations are well established fact.
Scotland’s rights exist under one of two possible sets of conditions and only one other of these two:
A signatory nation to any treaty has the right to expect the terms and limits agreed. (This is a right of peoples and nations and not just of states.) These terms and limits must not only exist but they must define the character of the agreement – in Scotland’s case, its position in the United Kingdoms of Great Britain. Those terms and limits mean we have a right, here and now to the sovereignty of our people over their government and to the exclusive control of our Scottish territorial resources – including our energy. Otherwise that state calling itself the United Kingdom doesn’t exist either in law or in fact.
What, The Uk disnae exist? Wake up hen? All ye need tae dae is look aboot ye?
Well, I say take a look under that Union Jack. Because what’s strutting around, stark naked, underneath is just England, all on its own. From Magna Carta to the Union, from the English Bill of Rights to the Supreme Court and most of all, the English Crown, with all its English rights and privileges while the Scottish Crown, the whole people of the nation is shoved to one side. Now that’s no Union. That’s just England playing overlord wearing a flag and waving around a treaty it never once kept. That’s called annexation.
BUT perhaps that is our ‘political reality’? The British/English state does seem to be arguing that Scotland volunteered for annexation – and for everything that has cost us in terms of our culture, history, languages, social values, laws and constitution – volunteered for the genocidal annihilation of our population and identity, volunteered for dispossession of our rights as a sovereign territorial nation, rights to the exclusive ownership and control of our own natural resources. Volunteered for our poverty and desperation. Aye right.
But if there ever was any such voluntary annexation, here’s what the British establishment can’t get away from. There is no such creature in international law as a voluntarily annexed nation. Let me repeat that: no such thing as the lawful, voluntary annexation of an entire nation even if a treaty says that. (And the Treaty of Union says no such thing.)
So what are the rights of an annexed nation? However offensive you might find the word, however you’d wish to refute it with the usual stereotypes of a colony, a nation annexed is a colony no matter what other colonies might look like. An annexed nation has the right to international assistance to decolonise.
And I can tell you Salvo will not stop until those rights are recognised and upheld.
We are ‘sponsoring’ and participating in the Stirling Directive, however, because it stands on the sovereignty, on the absolute authority of the Scottish people alone, an authority that must be restored to its rightful place above all other authorities of the state.
Scottish popular sovereignty means more than the right to vote. It means that a people can act on their own authority because they *are* that authority.
And by acting on the authority that is inherently and lawfully ours, the People of Scotland can empower our representatives to respect and obey a higher power than Westminster.
This not only opens the door to independence but also to the kind of political reform which will enable Scotland to reflect its own political values and constitutional provisions instead of those of our foreign neighbour, England.
And what that means is a doorway to a fully independent, self-determining future that looks, not like England lite, but like the Scotland that lives and breathes in every one of us. A Scotland based on the Common Good and the Sovereignty of its People – from which come all those principles of equality and social justice that we have held in common through three centuries of being ruled by a class based, privileged based foreign state.
That rule ends now. And the Scotland that lives and breathes in all of us, begins today.
MY COMMENTS
What Sara is describing here is the Salvo strategy of building pressure on the Union Dam. We know it is working, almost certainly not a word of today’s events will appear on TV or in MSM print. Why? Because this is dangerous stuff to which Unionists have no answer. Our case is factual ,we can demand that THEY provide the written proof that Scotland voted for the colonial annexation England imposes today. They can’t, because it does not exist.
So the sole Unionist tactic is to try to ignore what is happening, to seek to deny our Movement the oxygen of publicity. Now if we were sitting still that might work…for a while, but we are constantly growing, opening up new fronts with more and more force building up behind the dam.
To avoid catastrophe dams need to allow controlled release from time to time to relieve the pressure. Our job is to keep the pressure up to ensure there is no “safe time” to do so.
Our members and supporters must join in and participate in all our recruitment campaigns to build Salvo/ Liberation across our nation. We are strictly non party political which allows EVERYONE to join together and entirely focus on winning Scotland’s Independence through uniting the power of the people, the ultimate sovereign power in our land. BUILD THE PRESSURE…BREACH THE DAM!
I am, as always

BEAT THE CENSORS
Sadly some websites seek to censor what their readers have access to read. This is particularly true of sites whose existence is primarily to support the views of one particular party and they seek to block articles which do not slavishly support that particular doctrine. My readers have worked out that the best way to defeat that attack on the freedom of speech and thought is to share my articles widely, thus defeating any attempt at censorship. My thanks for this.
SALVO AND LIBERATION
Are playing a crucial role in taking Independence forward. This site limits donations to Yours for Scotland to a maximum of £3. We do not need more as all we seek to do is to cover the costs incurred in running the blog therefore once this is secured each year all further donations are forwarded to Salvo and Liberation. My thanks for all who choose to support us in this way. It is appreciated.
