So it has come to this. The Sex Survey for schools, currently being promoted by the Scottish Government which is facing increasing outrage and concern across the country has successfully turned one of the most successful SNP council groups in the country into a pack of political cowards, unwilling to allow any discussion on an issue of crucial importance to many parents. The mental and moral defense of their own children.

What are they thinking? Do they think this issue can be stuffed in the same cupboard as all the mandates and folk will just forget? I don’t think so, this will be a self administered festering wound that far from being forgotten about, will spread and completely infect the SNP body in Renfrewshire and elsewhere.

It is a matter of trust. To vote SNP you need to believe it will lead to a better Scotland, a more fair and just Scotland. Yes, a braver Scotland.

What is fair about banning discussion?. What is just in ignoring parents who are rightly demanding action and a full explanation? How does censoring and banning discussion lead to a better Scotland?

It does none of these things, it displays great cowardice, it highlights a Party that must have changed from the principled people who fought for years to win control from Labour. It is a tragedy that moves like this remind me of the previous Labour administration that would have probably done the same thing.

This will now be a big issue in the forthcoming Local Elections. That in itself is a big danger to the SNP as Renfrewshire has always been a marginal council and this decision to hide, rather than discuss, opens the door to every other Party to hit the local SNP very hard indeed.

I know some of the personalities which makes it even harder for me. I thought they had more principle and courage than this. Likewise I thought they had political brains.

Clearly I was wrong.
