This week’s show is a Ferry Special as we have been able to secure an exclusive interview with Dr Stuart Ballantyne of Sea Transport Solutions who is one of the top ship designers in the World and who has designed more than 100 ferries for over 46 different administrations in the World. He repeatedly warned the Scottish Government that the current ferry programme was unnecessarily expensive, was for obsolete and outdated designs, that were hugely expensive to operate, and bore no relation to islanders needs or desires. He also mentions his latest invention, the unsinkable ferry that he has designed jointly with Strathclyde University in Glasgow. It will be “launched” in a first presentation at Strathclyde University on the 12th May 2022. He has a plan to keep Fergusons busy for years building ferries of his catamaran design and states he could renew the entire CALMAC fleet for less than what is being spent on the two monohull ships that have caused so much trouble and delay. The usual team then discuss the week’s events with the addition of maritime expert Professor Alf Baird who is a regular friend of the show and who was a member of the Expert Ferry Advisory Group that provided scrutiny before the body was dissolved in December 2021. Coincidence I don’t think so?

BEAT THE CENSORS

Sadly some sites had given up on being pro Indy sites and have decided to become merely pro SNP sites where any criticism of the Party Leader or opposition to the latest policy extremes, results in censorship being applied. This, in the rather over optimistic belief that this will suppress public discussion on such topics. My regular readers have expertly worked out that by regularly sharing articles on this site defeats that censorship and makes it all rather pointless. I really do appreciate such support and free speech in Scotland is remaining unaffected by their juvenile censorship. Indeed it is has become a symptom of weakness and guilt. Quite encouraging really.
