WELL FOLKS THAT’S IT FOR A WHILE.

Well folks that is it for a while

I leave on my travels this coming week and will not be returning to Scotland until Mid May. The blog will continue but with fewer articles from myself so I would greatly welcome well written guest articles from what I know is an excellent pool of writers from among those readers that follow this blog.

I am going to have a second stab at finishing my novel. I tried to do so previous to Christmas but became tempted by the sun and the golf and failed to devote anything like the time required to finish the job. I don’t know why this is as when I discipline myself to get started I thoroughly enjoy the experience.

The story centres round the inhabitants of a Highland village who determine to emigrate to the USA and then travel beyond the extremes of the developed states to join with a Native American tribe to create a settlement that is capable of prospering in a hostile environment.

I have travelled extensively in the USA researching the geography and history of several states and hope that the book, while fiction, will be broadly in the style of one of my literary heroes Nigel Tranter whose books educated and entertained me over many years of my life. Like him I hope to frame my story round many actual events from both Scottish and American history.

Anyway while I am away I leave the well being of Scotland in your hands and hope to return to witness progress having been achieved in my absence.
