Readers yesterday would have read about my admiration for whoever on the Alba team was responsible for placing an Alba poster on a rock face site shortly before Fort William so I was delighted to receive the following message from Eddie Morgan from the Aye2Aye shop in Fort William
“Hello Iain! Eddie here in Fort William. Me and my good friend Jim managed the field poster you mentioned ( without ropes )
We have been running our Aye2Aye shop here in Fort William for six years now. Many of us ( including myself, have been followers of your blog for a long time now. )
Some of us activists are meeting up with one of the Highland candidates for Alba tomorrow in Town. Kirk Torrance. We are leafleting at 10am starting at the Spa in Claggan, then on to the town. We would be very happy to see you. Alternatively/and/or. If you are around in the afternoon or evening, you could come visit the shop. We could even have a wee dram from our malt whisky tour of the highlands in the shop if you are up for it. Any way, let us know. It would be great to meet up while you are here. Best Eddie
What a lovely invitation but sadly I had to turn it down as I am meeting Judith Reid another of the Highland candidates in Inverness today and she has already invited my Party to join their big car cavalcade on Saturday which will tour Inverness, Nairn, Beauly and other areas. So expect some good pictures at the weekend. Nevertheless if anyone is reading this before 10am in the Fort William area go along and give Eddie and his team a hand. I am sure you will be very welcome.

Anyway the mystery of the poster is solved so congratulations to Eddie and Jim for placing a poster where it has also became a big talking point.
Our trip today took us initially to the famous Corrieshalloch Gorge and it’s Suspension Bridge just outside Ullapool. It is quite climb back to the car park after viewing the spectacle, to the point I was looking for oxygen masks falling from the ceiling of the car when I got back in the car! Give me a tenement to leaflet any day! These days sadly the election would be over before I could manage a street of tenements!
We then drove to Ullapool and went into the famous Ceilidh Place for a drink, well outside for those who wished an alcoholic beverage. I have been in Ullapool dozens of times over the years but it has never been this quiet. Let’s hope tourism starts back soon both the Ceilidh Place and the excellent Ferry Boat Inn had very few customers in for lunch despite offering really good local produce and nice, in the case of the Ceilidh Place, very nice surroundings. The tourist season is short enough in normal times, I really admire those who are battling to keep revenues flowing in and the much needed jobs rural areas require for their local population.
So I really had very little opportunity to speak with the “punters” largely because they were conspicuous by their absence, nevertheless the few I did manage to talk to seemed relaxed about the whole affair. Posters wise there seems to be a one Party state in much of the country. Only in Beauly itself did I see Labour, Liberal and believe it or not two Tory posters which have easily won the prize for the worst designed posters ever developed. If you think of the small ALBA poster leaflet then imagine that in blue with the words Vote Conservative and Unionist in white letters over two lines in the middle. No logo, impossible to read when driving. They look appalling, Tory voters must think “their side” are .”total diddies” (football parlance for the benefit of DRoss). They would be right.
So it’s Inverness today I am hoping for good news, despite the geographical difficulty I know Alba is blessed with some great Highland organisers and they are getting through a power of work. I will get the full story from Judith and you will be hearing about it shortly.
I urge everyone to redouble our efforts, we have a week to go, we are on the verge of delivering something truly astonishing, for ALBA and for SCOTLAND.
I am, as always

Unfortunately a number of pro Indy sites have turned out to be merely pro SNP sites and have blocked a number of bloggers, including myself. We have managed to frustrate these efforts to close us down through our readers sharing our articles and building our audience. In addition many have taken out free direct subscriptions. I very much appreciate this support.
