HOW CAN WE TRUST YOU

I was sent this letter from Iain Bruce who lives in Nairn. It was sent to both his local MP and MSP.

Dear Messrs. Hendry and Ewing

The forensic tents have now been dismantled from Mr and Mrs Murrell’s front garden but unfortunately ‘out of sight out of mind’ doesn’t work in the sphere of contemporary political discourse where optics is everything and I write as a constituent to tell you that I hold you culpable for that imagery. 

The culpability of which I accuse you stems directly from Angus Robertson’s outrageous lunchtime coup by the NEC at the Aberdeen spring conference in 2018 and the abolition of National Council. I was a delegate for Nairnshire branch but had the misfortune to be having the timetabled lunch break when Robertson hijacked the agenda.

Why were you and other senior members of the party complicit in such an act of democratic vandalism?  The vandalism of emasculating the membership from  democratic engagement with the substitution of an omnipotent leadership duo, their party machine politicks and their subsequent abandonment of transparency and accountability. 

Five years on they get their comeuppance but unfortunately a comeuppance associated with the fatal wounding of our country’s prospects for independence.

With the betrayal of the promise not to let Scotland be dragged out of Europe against our will, the wheest for Indy nonsense, how will it be possible now to convince people on their doorsteps that our country can run it’s own affairs when those pictures will be indelibly etched on their minds?  And all in the face of the worst of Westminster indifference to Scotland’s interests.

How can the SNP be trusted anymore?

The party you represent is a pale imitation of the party the aims of which shall be:

(a) Independence for Scotland; that is the restoration of Scottish national sovereignty by restoration of full powers to the Scottish Parliament, so that its authority is limited only by the sovereign power of the Scottish People to bind it with a written constitution and by such agreements as it may freely enter into with other nations or states or international organisations for the purpose of furthering international cooperation, world peace and the protection of the environment.

 (b) the furtherance of all Scottish interests.

I and friends will be hard pushed yet again to lend our votes to the SNP in the face of such comprehensive betrayal. We have been taken for suckers once too often.

BEAT THE CENSORS

Regretfully there are some among us who seek to censor what others read. Sadly within the YES movement there are sites which claim to be pro Indy but exist to only promote one Party and will not publish articles which come from bloggers who don’t slavishly support that Party to the exclusion of the rest of the YES movement. I ask readers who support free speech to share articles from Yours for Scotland as often as possible as this defeats the effectiveness of the censors.
