GREAT NEWS.

Many people were blown away by the excellent Professor Alf Baird when he appeared on the Sunday Prism Show. Immediately afterwards many people were wanting to hear more about his suggestions so I was delighted to receive this email from Alfie suggesting a series of articles and his enquiry if I would be happy to publish and promote them on the Yours for Scotland website. I also publish my instant email reply which was an enthusiastic acceptance of his kind offer. The first article will be published on this site this Sunday and I am sure they will build into a comprehensive guide on how to move Independence forward and marshall effective arguments for our cause.

Alfie’s email to me

Hi Iain,
Thanks again for yours and Karen’s comments the other day after my interview with Roddy, all very much appreciated.
In my book on Scottish independence there are nine determinants set out in the theoretical framework I was able to develop on the subject. In the discussion chapter at the end of the book each of these determinants is briefly summarised. It occurred to me that each of these brief individual summaries might make for useful ‘bite-sized’ short articles on their own, 2-3 pages each. Having read them all, or most of them, readers would then be able to join the dots as it were.
Would you be interested in publishing these on YfS? If so, I would envisage sending you say 10 articles, say 1 per week, ending up with the ‘Strategies for Independence’ as no. 10, in week 10. They might be labelled perhaps as follows, starting with the first one on ‘Culture’:
‘The Socio-Political Determinants of Scottish Independence 1: Culture’

That is absolutely a great idea. I think to allow the series to build we should publish on the same day each week. I would suggest a Sunday as I find people have more time to digest longer articles on that day. Just let me know when you are ready to start and I can launch some pre publicity for the entire series.

So there you have it. I have absolute faith this will be a very enjoyable and interesting discussion that will be kicked off by this series. Make sure you do not miss these articles starting with the first article this coming Sunday. Alf is a quality and forthright author dealing directly and effectively with issues the shallow careerists run a mile from. If we want the people to take control of the Independence Agenda then we are going to have to drag the politicians along with us.
